Letters of Note (2016 Book Bingo Review)

For the free space on my bingo card, I chose to read Letters of Note: An Eclectic Collection of Correspondence Deserving of a Wider Audience by Shaun Usher.

This collection of letters was originally compiled on the Letters of Note website that “is an attempt to gather and sort fascinating letters, postcards, telegrams, faxes, and memos” and the best and most interesting were put into this GIANT book. It includes letters from people like Albert Einstein, Beethoven, Steve Martin, Elvis, Queen Elizabeth, and more!

This was a fun book, that’s for sure. It would be a great coffee table book to peruse every now and then, reading a few letters at a time. My favorites were when a copy of the actual letter would accompany the text- it was fun to see these things written in the person’s very own handwriting! Each letter also gave a little back story as to what was going on before/after the letter was written, so you know more of the motive behind it.
