Baseball and Soccer and Funnel Cakes

I am definitely not one of those people that LOVES sports. Don’t like to play them, really. Don’t want to watch them on TV. I take a very Gilmore approach to sports.

But recently I’ve gone to TWO sports games (matches? events? spectaculars? what is the term here?!?!) in less than a week! Who am I?!?! I went with some friends to see the Frisco RoughRiders minor league baseball team play last weekend and then a few days ago I saw FC Dallas play. I think the highlight for both was the food and the friends.

The baseball game was fun but SO HOT! And there was no breeze, so the heat just kinda stuck to you in a really disgusting way. But the game was fun and I had a blast with my friends. I had been dreaming about getting a funnel cake for over a week (my friend Kyle and I had been IM’ing about it at work every day!!) and we finally got them and it was delicious!

After Friday games, the stadium has a pretty great fireworks display, and we got to go sit on the field to watch!

The soccer game was also VERY hot, but thankfully there was a nice breeze and we got to sit on the shady side of the stadium. This was my very first time watching soccer (yes, ever!) and it was fun to watch in person! I decided that I still wouldn’t want to watch it on TV tho.

My favorite part of the game was all the flopping! (That’s the right term, right? Seriously, I know nothing about sports!) I mean, they just overreact and fall to the ground and stay there and it was hilarious. One guy actually did get a bit hurt, but every other time the guys would look up, realize the game was still going on and pop up to keep playing.

I really had a lot of fun at these games! One of my goals for the year was to see ALL the major Dallas sports teams play, and now I got to knock two of them off my list! Now I just have to see the Cowboys, and the Mavs, and the Stars, and the Rangers… good thing I know there will be yummy food at those games, because that will probably be my main motivation to go!
